It all started when…

Do remember that feeling when you were a kid and you were about to pick up your photos from the disposable camera you dropped off? I sure do! I get that same feeling at every session, it's a blend of love, excitement and joy. My camera has become an extension of my arm and there is nothing I love more than using it to photograph families! It is something about the way that parents look at their kids, and vise versa, that sparks a creative fire inside me. I like to keep my sessions exactly how I live my life... laid-back, easy and above all else, fun!

a little more about me

After six wonderful years in Colorado my family and I have moved to St. Augustine, Florida. I am officially trading in the mountains for the beach (and my hiking boots for flip flops). Everyday I ask myself, how did I get so lucky to live in two extremely beautiful locations?! I grew up at the beach so I feel like I’m just coming back home.

In other BIG news, my husband and I recently welcomed our first child, a baby boy, Henley, in March 2020!

Why Dapple Gray?

Coming up with a photography business name wasn't easy, especially when you have a last name that can be impossible to pronounce, Baughman (Bock-Man). Instead, I went with something that felt organic and graceful...Dapple Gray.

When I was growing up I spent a lot of time horseback riding and I have always had a deep love for the big creatures.  If you aren't familiar, dapple gray is a color of horse; it's a unique marbled or speckled fur.  All dapple gray horses are stunning and I want to emulate that same, natural, beauty into my photography style. Dapple gray horses are all very unique, but equally beautiful in their own way.  To me, that type of unique beauty translates or parallels the families I photograph and their individualistic [human] beauty.

While I don't own a horse now, I do adore my horse-sized coonhound, Lincoln. I love all pets and they are always welcomed in my sessions! XO
